AT&T user? Get ready for a higher upgrade fee.

ImageStarting this Sunday, February 12, AT&T will be doubling its upgrade fee from $18 to $36.  And the reasoning for this hike? “The overall costs associated with upgrading to a new device have increased,” AT&T said in a memo about the situation obtained by BGR.  Unlike AT&T, Verizon has continued to not charge an upgrade fee, but competitor Sprint also has an upgrade fee of $36.

I’m not sure what has changed that requires $18 more for AT&T to switch my phone information in their computer; which takes only a few minutes, but I don’t see their reasoning.  I feel that most AT&T users will not be happy about this change.
