Facebook not happy over employers’ profile stalking

Many employers have began asking new employees for their social network credentials.

Though there are no laws prohibiting the practice, Facebook has officially “condemned” the practice and Facebook chief privacy officer, Erin Egan, posted a statement on his blog speaking out against the practice. Facebook however does not plan to take legal action against these employers, but says that they hope to work together with policy makers to better safeguard users’ privacy.

As a Facebook user, I don’t think that employers should have access to user profiles, as they are meant to be a private space for someone to share with specific groups of people.
